We are taught to begin with underpainting.

To paint, then paint over.

To set the tone. Establish the composition.

It can build depth and texture.

It provides structural integrity.

An important step that is meant to be covered up.

To go unnoticed.

To fade away.

Revealing memories from past travels, in this series I celebrate the underpainting.
